find a bunch of fluff articles nor coverage of large corporate rub fests.
You will only find stories by local bikers about local bikers. We need you to
contribute. If you like to write and have a decent camera, send in an article and it

Being an air-cooled machine the deserts of the SW can have some extreme temperatures during the day but the night passing through these desert regions can be spectacular and much cooler.
I have had my share of "peek a boo" wildlife in the road at night and find myself curious what others think about riding under a canopy of stars.

Yeah Jerry, those bugs should be sent up north for the summer.
I bet they would come out with a foolproof way to get rid of those pest.
Recently the state government imported these tiny flies that kill fire ants.
When it is discovered these flies kill people with their stingers, who will be blamed for they're mistakes?

LoveBugs were imported here by the University of Fl. back in the late 60's to "Breed with Mosquitoes to make them stop stinging", didn't work. Man! back in the early 70's they were so thick at times you would have to slow down to a crawl so you wouldn't slam into something. I remember working outside back then, sweating, and being covered with them. They would crawl up your nose.
Spray Spray Spray Clean Clean Clean, more often more better, what else can you say?. Every time you stop for gas wipe them off with a wet rag. Big hastle with anything.

Love how those insects will eat the finish off your rides paint and leave a hole where there was paint.
Was on 72 today an encountered bambi in a herd along the hyway. They just stood and stared as we rode by then went back to eating the greener grass along the shoulder.

Do alot of night riding here. Lonely backroads, listening to the rumble down in the valleys. far ther north need a windshield , have some big bugs there.
Arcadia area, man, your'e right in the middle of it too. Definately windscreen and faceshield country at night. As soon as I get east of 95 after the sun goes down I got to stop every ten minutes to clean the dead carcases off my faceshield, nasty.

Most roads are through swamps with ditches and or tree lines on both sides where lots of critters hide from the hot sunlight during the daytime. In most other places road kill is common, not here, them critters is too smart for that as they wait patiently hiding in the bushes for motorcycles to come cruising down the lonely roads. Deer and hogs will jump out to play chicken with you and put you in a slide while gators, racoons, fox, panther, buzzards, bobcats, cyotes, snakes, and ants all patiently await their turn in the food chain process. Often a sow will take you out so her seven to ten baby hogs can feast on you, in that case there's not much left but a little chrome off your bike. Gators will just drag you under and stuff you in the den to decompose a few days so you taste better. No matter where you go down at night here you can rest assure your carcass won't go to waste cause the buzzards and ants will do the final cleanup.

Those Buzzards don't get up and away fast enough either, they will leave feathers and goo all over your ride as they slatter against your windshield and helmet.
Thats right I still wear the "Lid".
Wish I was wearin that Lid when I encountered a "MagPie".
Damm near knocked me off, thats why the "Windshield".

I still ride at night, really enjoy the cool air and Southern Jasmine wafling in the air, plus the orange blossoms.
If your ever riding down SR72 between Sarasota and Arcadia at night, bring a p h o n e for emergencies, you may need it.

extremly pleasurable but often stressful. we dont have the gators like Speedyjerry and some of the other critters he mentioned but there are quite the plenty none the less. but the smell of jasmine , wisterria honneysucle wafting throught the air is the delight. and as the lucious Cweet Char stated the lonely rumble of the v- twin muffled and echoing through the countryside puts me in my own heaven...love it!

I have the joy of riding to and from work in the time of day without sun. love every minute of it. Everything happens just that bit faster, it gets your juices going, and pumps your heart. Better than hour in the gym anyday. Destroyed my world one day when I was told the bike had lights!
I absolutely love night riding...especially in the country. The still of the night broken by the deep throaty song of that engine working...just letting it speak it own words. The lone headlight cutting it's way through the dark, making a way.
I try not to ride at night but I always wanted to try riding with night vision goggles and no headlight just to mess with people. Worked for me when I landed a plane in not so friendly territory. Well let me rephrase that. When I crashed a plane into not so friendly territory
Hershey PA...you can smell the chocolate about 8 miles away. Mmmmmmmmm. And the street lights look like Hershey Kisses. Mmmmmmmmmmm. And if you go to the Hershey hotel, they give you chocolate flavored coffee.
lv2ride, I live within a mile of the orange prossesing plant, I have that sweet nectar air all the time here
in the deep woods.
